Over the last five years, David Poltrock – piano sidekick with premium Belgian bands such as Hooverphonic, De Mens and Triggerfinger – has spent a tremendous amount of time composing music. Inspired by his acoustic pianos and surrounded by the vast collection of synthesizers in his Brussels studio, he patiently crafted a trilogy called Mutes, Moods & Machines that will be released under the POLTROCK moniker in the course of 2018.
Intimate piano sketches not unlike A Winged Victory for the Sullen or Nils Frahm transform into dark and cinematic soundscapes reminding of Tim Hecker or Jóhann Jóhannsson to finally evolve into pulsating and menacing rhythms bringing back memories of Can or even Soulwax.
Poltrock’s trusted pianos however, mechanically prepared with love and strange objects, remain the focal point of his compositions. His ambient prepared-piano stage performance supporting Hooverphonic for their 5 symphonic shows earlier this year at the Antwerp Queen Elisabeth Hall was a success. A totally different approach to Poltrock’s way of treating a piano was displayed in December while supporting his Triggerfinger friends with an intense electronic set for their sold out shows at the Amsterdam De Melkweg.
In addition, a Limited Edition 7″ Vinyl with a Poltrock remix for Triggerfinger̓s latest title track Colossus will be released to introduce what is to become an exciting 2018.
