OR BAREKET (IL)

The Or Bareket Quartet is a container for the ongoing exploration of spaces between and within languages and cultures. Its four group members use Bareket’s original compositions as a vehicle through which to metabolize and integrate the different worlds and experiences they inhabit into a cohesive sound that accommodates all of it and dilutes none of it. Savannah Harris, the group’s drummer, describes the quartet’s style as a musical equivalent of capoeira : the Afro-Brazilian martial-art/ dance-form where people seem to be both sparring and dancing at the same time.

YŌM, meaning “Day” in Hebrew and Arabic, is the quartet’s follow up to their acclaimed 2022 release, SAHAR.

Mirroring and contrasting its predecessor’s introspective, often dream-like mood, YŌM deals with themes inspired by light, heat, and color, offering Bareket’s most energetic, engaging, and edgy statement to date. YŌM continues the quartet’s evolution in establishing a unique, dynamic, and expansive sound palette.​
