Copenhagen-born bassist Jasper Høiby created the trio Phronesis in 2005. Høiby has performed and continues to perform and record with a number of original artists, including Mark Guiliana, Django Bates, Shai Maestro, Jeff Ballard, Miquel Zenón, Louis Cole, Julian Joseph, Julian Arguelles, Jef Neve, Marc O’Reilly, Ana Silvera, Kurt Elling, Teis Semey, Kit Downes, Xavi Torres, Sun Mi Hong, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Pascal Schumacher, Gwilym Simcock, Antonio Loureiro, Tom Arthurs, Mark Lockheart, Liam Noble, Julia Biel, Seb Rochford, Kairos 4tet, Makaya McCraven, Ben Lamar Gay, Richard Spaven and Jim Hart.

Jasper’s current project is Jasper Høiby’s Planet B, an Electro-Acoustic bass-led project featuring Josh Arcoleo (sax) and Marc Michel (drums).

‘What It Means To be Human’ is the second in a series of four albums from Jasper Høiby’s Planet B that focus on global topics of vital importance – Humanity, Climate Change, Artificial intelligence and Monetary Reform. This album seeks connection. A connection between humanity and the planet, between the problems we all face and about an opportunistic optimism to fix them. The mastermind is Jasper Høiby, the esteemed and revered Danish bassist and the deeply reflective, expressive and visionary artist.
